101 Films announces multiple acquisitions from the TIFF virtual market and Autumn months
101 Films, an Amcomri Media Group company, has confirmed all rights acquisitions of a significant slate of movies for release in the UK in 2022.

Love is Love is Love (2021) is a rom-com with fantastic cast, written and directed by Eleanor Coppola (wife of Francis Ford Coppola).

Three stories that explore love, commitment, and loyalty between couples and friends. In the film’s first story TWO FOR DINNER, a married couple (Joanne Whalley and Chris Messina) find an unconventional way to transcend long distance through technology, but discover they were farther apart than they knew. In SAILING LESSON, a long-married couple (Kathy Baker and Marshall Bell) tries to reignite their honeymoon-phase heat through a spontaneous sailing trip… and unexpected events arise. And in LATE LUNCH, a young woman (Maya Kazan) who recently lost her mother gathers a group of her mother's friends (including Cybill Shepherd, Rosanna Arquette, and Rita Wilson) to share memories. Surprising revelations ensue. The deal was agreed between Stacy Glassgold for Blue Fox and Steve Davey for 101 Films

Language Lessons (2021) is a lockdown friendship story, previously shown at SXSW 2021 and Berlinale, written and produced by stars Natalie Morales (Parks & Recreation) and Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed); Cariño (Morales) is a Spanish teacher living in Costa Rica when she dials into a Zoom meeting with a new student. That turns out to be middle aged Adam (Duplass), who received 100 lessons in Spanish as a birthday gift from his husband Will (Terry). As the lessons progress, we see that the two people from apparently disparate backgrounds begin to bond, and despite the reluctance of Cariño to let her walls down, the teacher and student become friends. But isn’t it true that some boundaries shouldn’t be crossed? Not in this case. The deal was agreed between Stacy Glassgold for Blue Fox and Steve Davey for 101 Films

The Bezonians (2021) is a British gangster film starring legendary screen hardman Vinnie Jones; A bunch of people in London spend a great deal of their time at a social club named The Bezonians. Then a change of circumstances puts their lives at risk. Plato (Karras) is the proud owner of the social club and a family man. He enjoys socializing with the various individuals who frequent his business, some of which include Anthony (Crew), an intellectually disabled young man with a tragic past, Achilles (Michael) a quiet and dangerous bloke and Taz (Duff) a wild fella with a mohawk. Things are going smoothly for them; however, a careless act of gambling puts them up against a ruthless debt collector named Willard (Jones). The deal was agreed between Savvas D. Michael, the director, and Steve Davey for 101 Films.

Guardians of Time (2022) is a pre-buy deal and another partnership with our friends at Ace Entertainment: Four cousins discover in their family manor a passage leading to a mysterious world. Trapped in an unearthed land, the Kingdom of Keoherus, they must confront the Guardians of Time, face dark forces and beasts to hopefully get back home. The deal was agreed between Marielle Zuccarelli for Ace and Steve Davey for 101 Films.

Deep Hatred (2021) Cindy decides to go to her late father’s home in the countryside, where she grew up, to solve some family disputes. She is accompanied by her boyfriend, Mark, and a couple of friends, Nathan and Jennifer, looking for a little comfort and support. However, Cindy will find out that not only her father, but also the house hides a terrible secret that leads them to a curse. Now they are all in danger. Deep Hatred will be released by 101 Films in the UK & North America, the deal was agreed between Ryan Bury for MPX and Andy Taylor for 101 Films.

Dark Divide (2020) is a wonderful comedy drama about a man ‘finding himself’ after bereavement. Starring David Cross (Arrested Development, Debra Messing (Will & Grace) and David Koechner (Anchorman). Robert is a dedicated husband to Thea, his ailing wife. When she loses her battle to cancer, he honours her by going on an expedition to find a rare butterfly in the wilderness of Washington’s Gifford Pinchot’s National Forest. He has never camped before, let alone gone on a 30-day expedition, but a grant received from the Guggenheim spurs him on to finish what he started. Deep in the forest, he must deal with dirt bikers, bears, deforestation, and Bigfoot’s legend. He must also confront with the crippling loss of his life partner. By immersing himself in nature he hopes to heal his grieving heart. The deal was agreed between Marc Helfrich for Uncork’d Entertainment and Steve Davey for 101 Films.
